Toyota has launched Updated Etios Duo in India christened as Etios Platinum and Etios Liva with prices starting at Rs. 6.43 lakh and Rs. 5.24 lakh (Ex-showroom Mumbai) respectively. Both the new models come with revamped design, new features and standardization of safety. The vehicles have been around for a while now and enjoy decent response but not gone well as expected. The Etios cousins are one of top favorite for taxi operators but their love as private vehicles have gone down significantly.

Price:

Despite new changes and updates, new sedan is around 35,000 cheaper than outgoing model. The Etios Platinum starts at Rs. 6.43 lakh for petrol and Rs. 7.56 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) for the diesel trim.  The top ranging variant of both the powertrains cost at Rs. 7.74 lakh and Rs. 8.87 lakh respectively.

Engine Details:

The sedan carries forward the same engines of ongoing model i.e. a 1.5 litre petrol engine that makes 89bhp@5600rpm and 132Nm of torque@3000rpm while a 1.4 lite diesel mill is good for 67bhp power@3800rpm and 170Nm of torque between 1800rpm-2400rpm. Both the engines are clubbed to a 5-speed manual gearbox that sends power to front wheels. The oil burner is said to come with revised clutch to improve feedback and response. The petrol returns an ARAI rated mileage of 16.78 Kmpl while diesel is good for 23.59 Kmpl.

Space and Dimensions:

The Etios sedan is known for spacious rear cabin thanks to decent measurements. At the tape, it measures 4369mm in length, 1695mm in width, 1510mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2550mm. It comes with humongous cargo space of 595 liters and decent ride height of 174mm.  Toyota claim to improve the harshness level by 7 percent along with the enhanced comfort levels.

Exterior and Interior:

Cosmetic changes include new V Shaped front grille with chrome embellishment, new blackened out front bumper with secondary air dam and jewel shaped fog lamps adorned by boomerang shaped faux silver skid makes new Etios sportier than before. The side profile remains same while rear revised tail lamps, new bumper and some chrome to add premium touch.

The brand has made subtle changes inside such as revised seats with new seat covers and new textures, updated instrument cluster which looks upmarket. The list has been expanded with rear Armrest, folding rear seat for additional boot space and electrically foldable outer rear view mirrors. Other comfort features include 2 DIN music system, all four power windows, manual air conditioning, 13 liters cooled glove box, a three spoke steering wheel with tilt function, 12V power socket, seven bottle holders etc.

Colors:

The Etios Platinum is available in seven colors which are Classic Grey, Vermilion Red, harmony beige, Silver Mica metallic, celestial black, white, pearl white with crystal shine.

Safety:

On the safety front, the sedan now come equipped with engine immobilizer, ABS with EBD, front and rear seat belt with pre-tensioners as standard across all the trims, it already has dual front airbags as standard. Other features include revere parking sensors, front fog lamps, rear defogger, driver seat warning and door ajar warning with buzzer.
