Tesla to Enter India with Model 3; Bookings Open

Tesla motors have announced its plans to expand the operations in India; the electric car manufacture unveiled its most affordable vehicle ‘model 3’ at Hawthorne California. Electric vehicles have become necessity nowadays considering the amount of pollution present in the atmosphere. In India, Reva is probably the only electric vehicle present which too failed to make any kind of impact. Our country might get a full fledge electric performance car in the form of Tesla 3.

Apart from India, the carmaker has announced to launch Model 3 in South Africa, Singapore, Ireland, Brazil, Slovakia and New Zealand. The EV carmaker announced that it already received 1.15 lakh pre-orders in the last 24 hours or so. The first lot of the car is expected to be rolled out by mid 2017 in USA followed by other countries while Indian buyers would get it by early or mid 2018.

The car website is live for the aforementioned countries and you can book it for yourself at an amount of $1000 (Approx 66,000 INR) meanwhile it is priced at $35,000 (23 lakh INR). The final price of the model could be way higher around Rs. 50 lakh mark due to import duty and other taxes. The Tesla Model 3 could get benefit from government’s FAME imitative.

Design wise, Tesla 3 sports signature styling cues of the company such as aerodynamic sleek yet elegant stance, Porsche look alike headlamps flanked by skinny LED DRL strip. The rear features vertical shaped stance with combo LED tail lights. The cabin too has familiar feel with central console getting a large touchscreen infotainment system and flat bottom multi function steering wheel. The car can make 0-100km in just 6 seconds and can run up to 400km on a single charge.
