Tata motors registers 83000 bookings for Tiago hatchback

Tata’s current bestseller, Tiago has now received over 83,000 bookings since its launch in April last year. Tiago’s sales have grown consistently from 3000 units in May 2016 to 5000 units in February 2017. The hatchback has consistently received overwhelming response thanks to latest design, rich features and aggressive pricing. More than 50,000 units already ply on Indian roads and nearly 30,000 orders are still pending.

Above outrageous numbers helped brand to boost its market share to 6.4 percent from 5.4 percent in April 16 to January 2017 time period. Moreover, around 70 percent of the sales are for the top end XT and XZ trims and more than 80 percent bookings are for the petrol variants. Tiago has recently received an AMT transmission in the petrol grade, priced at Rs. 5.39 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi); the hatchback comes with first in segment multi drives modes- Eco and City.

Just to remind, Tiago is the first product to be based on Tata’s IMPACT design philosophy. In terms of features, it sports Harmon Kardon infotainment system with USB, AUX-in and bluetooth connectivity, cooled glove box, driver seat height adjustment, central locking with flip key remote, steering mounted controls etc. For safety, it is equipped with dual front airbags, Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD), corner stability control (CBC), seat belt pretensioners and load limiters etc.

Under the hood, Tiago is available in both petrol and diesel trims. The diesel variants are powered by a 1.05 litre 3-cylinder Revotorq engine that makes 69bhp@4000rpm and high torque of 140Nm between 1800-3000rpm. The petrol trims draw power from a 1.2l 3-cylinder Revotron engine that makes 84bhp power@6000rpm and 114Nm of torque@3500rpm. Both the engines are linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.
