Tata Hexa India launch on 18 January 2017; variant list leaked

As per the recent reports, Tata’s flagship SUV Hexa will be launching on 18 January 2017 in India. With almost all the details were revealed at the media drive last month, only prices and number of variants was remained to be disclosed. Bookings had begun last month at refundable token amount of Rs. 11,000. Hexa is a make or break product for Tata and hence has been loaded with handful of features and ample space. Tata’s recent launch Tiago has been a great success which helped brand to upscale its image in the market.

The Hexa will be made available in six grades across 14 variants along with 6 and 7 seater configurations. The XT, XTA and XT 4*4 variants with the six seat option while XE, XM and XMA will be offered with 7-seater. On the price front, it is expected to range between Rs. 12 lakhs16 lakhs (ex-showroom) and will be pitched against Mahindra XUV500 and Toyota Innova Crysta.

Based on the modified Aria platform, Hexa has a hydroformed ladder chassis with muscular design that looks elegant. Hexa will draw its juice from a 2.2 litre Varicor engine available with two states of tunes. The base variant will house 2.2litre Varicor 320 engine that will develop 148PS power and 320Nm of high torque, linked to a five-speed manual gearbox.

The remainder of variants will draw power from a Varicor 400 engine which is good for 154bhp power and 400Nm of torque. A six-speed manual and automatic will be offered with this engine. The manual variants will have Tata’s Super Drive mode 4×4, while the automatic will get the rear-wheel drive configuration.  Tata Hexa will be available with four drive modes– Auto, comfort, dynamic and rough road.

As Hexa is positioned in the premium segment, it gets projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, piano black central console, leather wrapped steering wheel, cooled glove box, 10 speaker JBL touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, mood lighting, juke box app, dual zone climate control etc. On the safety front, Hexa will have six airbags, Hill Hold Control (HHC), ABS with EBD, all disc brakes, traction control system, hill descent control, ESP, cruise control, reverse parking camera, vehicle dynamic control on board.
