Skoda Octavia facelift India launch expected this June

Skoda Octavia has been one of the most underrated executive sedans in India. The facelift has been showcased at 2017 Geneva Motor show which is likely to launched in India by June this year. Similar to ongoing model, the 2017 edition Octavia will be locally assembled in company’s Aurangabad plant. The new model comes with some considerable exterior changes and most prominent of them are the quad LED headlights.

The facelift wears split headlights with full LED technology seen on last gen Mercedes-Benz E-class. Changes include new front bumper with wider air intake, revamped butterfly grille, new fog lamps, and new LED tail lamps at rear. All these makes sedan more aggressive than before. The side profile gets sharp creases and lines and it also rides on new 16”-18” alloy wheels.

The cabin of 2017 Octavia remains moreover same to that of current model. However it receives new tech and infotainment features like bigger 9.2 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple car play, Android Auto, WLAN hotspot, LTE support, SIM card module and Columbus navigation. Other features include premium leather upholstery, neat instrument cluster, chunky multi function steering wheel, sharp dashboard layout, automatic climate control and much more.

As for the powertrains, Octavia facelift will continue to drag power from the same engines i.e. 1.4l TSI and 1.8l TSI petrol motor along with 2.0l diesel engine. The transmission duties are taken care by a 6-speed manual while for automatic there will be options in the form of 6-speed and 7-speed unit. The 2017 Octavia could be priced in the range between Rs. 15 lakh and 21 lakh (ex-showroom).

Skoda has revealed performance version of Octavia called vRS 245 at Geneva motor show which is also expected to hit Indian shores sometime in 2017. It is powered by a 2.0l TSI engine that makes 245PS power and 370Nm of torque; it can be had in either 6-speed manual or a seven dual clutch automatic gearbox. The powerful engine is capable enough to naught 0-100km/hr in just 6.6 seconds with an electronically limited speed of 250km/hr. Skoda will also launch Kodiaq SUV later this year.
