Renault launches Kwid ‘Live for more’ edition in India

French carmaker’s Kwid has won millions of heart since its launch in September 2015 and urged carmaker to become one of the fastest growing brands in India. After a dreadful start in India and splitting up with Mahindra, it’s Kwid that turned fortunes for Renault. After Kwid AMT, there’s new limited edition in town called Kwid live for more edition. This could be done to clear last year’s stock while most manufactures offer heavy discounts Renault played it smart by launching the special edition.

The special edition comes with cosmetic changes both outside and inside and will be available 2016 year variants. Though it cost around Rs. 20,000 but it will be made available at no extra cost to the buyer. The Kwid ‘Live for more’ edition is available with 0.8L, 1.0MT and 1.0l AMT variants.

Coming to the changes, the special edition features dual color stripes running across the length of the car and along the sides. It also sports red accents on the front grille and wheel covers, contrast color rear spoiler and dual tone roof rails. On the inside, the ‘Live for More edition’ gets 7 inch MediaNAV touchscreen infotainment system, steering with red colored contrast stitching.

Kwid was originally launched with a 799cc, three cylinder petrol engine which makes 53bhp@5678rpm and 72Nm of torque@4386rpm, linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox and offers 25.17 Kmpl of ARAI claimed mileage. In August 2016, Renault has introduced 1.0l variant which is tuned to deliver 67bhp of power@5500rpm and 91Nm of torque@4250rpm, claims to return 23.01 Kmpl. Later, it was joined by Amt variant which utilizes the same 999cc engine which is tuned to deliver 24.01Kmpl of mileage.

The Standard Renault Kwid is priced at Rs. 2.65 lakh for the base and Rs. 4.31 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the top spec 1.0l airbag equipped variant. Reportedly, the limited edition is priced at Rs. 2.78 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) while there is no official announcement has been made from Renault. However, bookings for the special edition are already open and Renault will launch Kwid Climber and Racer in India this year.
