Porsche Panamera Turbo launched in India at Rs 1.96 Crore

The second Generation Porsche Panamera Turbo was revealed in 2016 which has been launched in India today. The grand Tourer Turbo starts at Rs. 1.93 Crore while the more luxurious and longer Panamera Turbo set you back at a whopping price of Rs. 2.05 crore (ex-showroom Maharashtra). First Gen model was launched in 2009 and more than 1.64 lakh units have been sold before Porsche Pull the plug in August last year. Like previous gen model, new Panamera is manufactured at the company’s plant in Leipzig, Germany.

The new model is 70 kg lighter than the previous generation courtesy new MSB platform and heavy use of aluminium. Also new Panamera is 35mm longer, 5mm taller and wider; in addition wheelbase has grown by 30mm. The Panamera Executive is 5199mm long, 1427mm tall and sits a longer wheelbase of 3100mm.

Thanks to host of cosmetic changes both the variants looks appealing and sharper. For changes, the car comes with new set of four point LED headlamps, flowing character lines on bonnet and sides, new alloy wheels with eight different color options. The rear gets sleek horizontal LED tail lamps, beefy bumper with quad exhaust system and sculpted boot lid.

Interior has also received major makeover comes with range of comfort and tech features. It comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with number of digital functions, touch sensitive panel and navigation system. Among other features are Audi virtual cockpit inspired digital instrument cluster with tablet like UI, rear axle steering, configurable LED screens, premium leather upholstery and removable screens attached to the headrest of the front seats to name a few.

Panamera has also received lane change assist with turn assist, air suspension, night vision assist, cruise control, ParkAssist with reverse camera and Surround View, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition etc.

The second generation holds a new 4.0l Twin turbo turbocharged V8 petrol motor that churns out healthy power of 550PS@5750-6000rpm and high torque of 770Nm between 1960-4500rpm. The power and torque of Panamera has been up by 30PS and 70Nm. The fuel efficiency has also increased by 10 percent thanks to new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK II). It can accelerate from 0-100km/hr in just 3.8 seconds (0.2 seconds quicker with optional sport chrono package) with a top speed of 306 km/hr.
