Volkswagen has finally arrived with Vento facelift version after having rumors and speculations about its specifications and price.  Main highlight of Vento would the introduction of 1.5 Diesel engine with automatic transmission which is first in segment. Vento has been an exceptional car but it was not able to convert into sales figures for Volkswagen. Now let’s see what Vento facelift is all about. We will start with its price-

Price:

Volkswagen launched the facelift version of 1.6 MPI Vento at starting price of Rs. 7.44-8.87 lakhs, 1.2TSI petrol (7 DSG) b/w 9.35-9.92 lakhs, 1.5 TDI manual trendline b/w 8.57-9.90 lakhs and new 1.5 TDI ( 7 DSG) in comfortline and highline variants ranges between 10.49-10.94 lakhs.

Engine Details:

Volkswagen Vento is launched in two trims – Petrol and Diesel, Petrol engine is subdivided in two sections 1.6L MPI engine and 1.2L TSI engine. 1.6L MPI engine churns out 103.5BHP power @5250 and 153nm peak torque@3800 rpm mated with 5 speed transmission. 1.2L TSI engine have same amount of power but higher torque which 175nm torque@1500-4100rpm mated with 7 speed DSG transmission.

1.6L MPI engine returns 15.04 KPL of effective mileage, while 1.2 TSI engine returns 16.93 KPL mileage.

While the 1.5 L TDI in-line Diesel model which emits 103.5BHP power@4400rpm and 250nm of peak torque@1500-2500rpm, this engine is equipped with 7 speed dual shift automatic gearbox. This TDI box has an efficient fuel efficiency of 21.21 KPL.

Space and Dimensions:

New Vento is 4384mm long, 1699mm wide and 1466mm tall, it offers wheelbase of 2552mm and ground clearance for diesel variants are 165mm, while for the petrol variants it goes up by 3 mm to 168mm. Turning radius for new Vento is 5.2mm.

It has seating capacity for 5 persons and boot volume of 480 liters.

Interiors and Exteriors:

From the inside, cabin gets three spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, Dashboard gets two tone color finish, Central console gets an updation and chrome surrounded audio system and gear knob. Central console has multi function utility and lots of buttons around it. Seats are very comfortable and made with premium quality fabric which is best suited for long drives.

Rear seats also get attention in terms of comfort and entertainment, rear seats will now have entertainment package with twin screens and to keep you cool there is rear A/C vents. These introductions will surely bring equal to its rival like Hyundai Verna and Honda City.

Externally, Vento looks big brother of Polo especially from the front; it gets new dual bezel headlights, revamped grille and redesigned bumpers. Side of the car now gets Big 15 inches body colored handles and ORVM’s. Rear of the new Vento has attractive Taillights which garnishes the overall looks of Vento. 

Colors:

Vento facelift is available in six elegant colors– Toffee brown, Candy White, Deep Black pearl, Reflex Silver, Night Blue and Terra black. Reflex Silver and Terra black looks more sophisticated.

Safety:

In terms of safety it is equipped with features like Dual airbags, ABS, three point seat belts, Hill hold control, anti- pinch windows which disables windows to close sensing any obstacle.

It also has safety features like rear parking camera, adaptive cruise control, ESP, fog lights, electronic engine immobilizer, high mounted third brake light and speed sensing steering wheel.

Verdict:

Exterior and interior of New Vento is now innovative and new 1.5TDI engine with DSG is certainly commendable. Competition in this segment is very tuff with the likes of Honda city and Hyundai Verna which are rulers of this segment, but now with new innovation and introduction can new Vento be able to deliver the expected performance?
