After recently launching the Discovery Sport in India, Land rover has silently rolled out a new top of the line SVR performance variant. Priced at Rs. 2.12 Crore (ex-showroom Mumbai, Pre-Octroi), the SUV is available on a made to order to basis and it’s the first SUV to be produced by Special vehicles operation (SVO), the newly formed division of Jaguar. Also, this is the first SUV from British car giant to acquire SVR badge and it is the fastest ever production SUV around the Nurburgring circuit as it preformed a lap in a record time of just 8 minutes and 14 seconds.

Price:

The new SUV comes at a whooping price of Rs. 2.12 Crores (ex-showroom) which is almost a four time price of the top variant of Discovery sport.

Engine Details:

Under the hood of fastest production SUV is a massive 5000cc, 5.0 liter V8- turbocharged petrol engine that dishes out a max power of 541bhp@6000-6500rpm and 680Nm of peak torque between 2500-5500rpm. The Power is distributed to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission and which can be accessed by steering wheel mounted paddle shifters or the gearlever.

The SUV is capable of ticking 0-100 km in just 4.5 seconds with an electronically limited speed of 260km/hr. Several other mechanical changes have been done to the SVR variant to handle more power and to deliver smooth handling. It is equipped with sports suspension, Brembo 6-piston caliper brakes, active exhaust, active roll system and a dynamic active rear locking differential. The SUV delivers 7.81 kms to a litre of fuel while carbon dioxide emissions level stand at 298 g/km.

Space and Dimensions:

The Fastest off roader SUV is also one of the spacious vehicles around with the length measuring at 4856mm along with 2073mm width and 1780mm of height. The Vehicle also has a standard ride height (ground clearance) of 213mm and wading depth of 850mm.

Exterior and Interior:

The new SUV is rather more aggressive than its standard counterparts with blackened out treatment that covers more than 30 percent of the vehicle. All black grille, massive air inducts with black finishing, black ORVMs and shiny black roof top make it aggressive than its standard variants. While features like rear bumper with diffuser, exclusive color shades, bigger 21/22” alloy wheels with flared wheel arches, rear spoiler and black badging on the hood enhances the sporty quotient of the vehicle and reminds you of being special.

The interiors are niche and have been given a black white treatment along with other three color options. The cabin also comes with a series of luxurious features like a sporty and trimmed premium, an 8 inch TFT touchscreen supporting voice based navigation and dual view technology.

Other worth mentioning features are Sliding Panoramic sunroof, laminated front door, heated windscreen, leather packed steering wheel with carbon vezel, four zone climate control, 16 way powered front seats with memory function and a powerful 825W Meridian Surround Sound audio system with 19 speakers and a TV tuner.

Safety:

The performance oriented SUV doesn’t looses out on safety features to improve the off road capabilities of the vehicle. The SUV features a transfer box, dynamic stability control (DSC), dual airbags with side and curtain for the front passengers, Gradient release control (GRC), ABS (anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake force distribution), Cornering brake control (CBC), electronic traction control (ETC) to limit the tire slip during acceleration, roll stability control, surround camera, rear parking sensors and emergency brake assist (EBA).

The performance SUV locks the horns with Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S in India.
