Volkswagen India has finally launched new Jetta at the starting price of Rs. 13.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Jetta was last updated in October 2013 when it received new headlamps and some added equipments but this time around New Jetta sports cosmetic changes with some feature updates while mechanically it remains same. New Jetta made it global debut at the 2014 New York motor show. New Jetta will attract someone who is looking for a car with good quality with modest styling.
Volkswagen has launched new Jetta at the initial price of Rs. 13.70 lakh for the Trendline petrol variant and Rs. 15.86 lakh for the Comfortline petrol model while its diesel price starts from Rs. 15.01 lakh and goes up to Rs. 19.77 lakh. All the prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
New Jetta comes with two power units Petrol and Diesel while the specification of both the trims remains same.
The petrol variants continue to get power from 1.4L 4-cyl TSI petrol engine that produces 120bhp [email protected] and 200Nm peak [email protected] It returns an ARAI certified mileage of 14.69 KMPL mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox. Petrol Jetta is offered only in Comfortline and Trendline variants.
Diesel Jetta is equipped with same 2.0L in-line Diesel engine that gives 138bhp [email protected] and 320Nm of peak [email protected] and it is available in Comfortline, Trendline and Highline variants as well. The diesel box is mated to a 6 speed manual and a 6 speed automatic gearbox. The Diesel manual Jetta would deliver an efficient mileage of 19.33 KMPL (ARAI certified) while it’s AT variant delivers 16.96 KMPL (ARAI certified).
Space and Dimensions:
Dimensionally New Jetta is same as the current model with 4659mm length, 1778mm width and 1453mm height, wheelbase of 2648mm makes it a spacious car. The ground clearance is just 159mm and fuel tank capacity of 55 liter. Kerb weight of petrol is 1354kg while diesel and diesel (AT) weighs 1401kg and 1439kg respectively. To keep your luggage it offers huge boot space of 510 liters.
Exterior and Interiors:
Among the visible cosmetic changes the New Jetta gets a three slat front chrome grille instead of two just like Volkswagen Passat, new headlamps with L shaped LED daytime running lights, revised front bumper gets larger air intakes, new fog lamp housing. Side profile remains same while rear side receives a new bumper with Audi A4 inspired LED tail lights and subtle lip spoiler.
On the Inside New Volkswagen Jetta acquire with a new three spoke flat bottom steering wheel borrowed from Vento and Polo, piano black finish, premium leather upholstery, touchscreen infotainment system, dual zone climate control with rear A/c vents, cruise control and revised instrument cluster.
Volkswagen Jetta is available in six striking colors- Deep black, Blue Silk, Platinum grey, Toffee Brown, Reflex Silver and Pure White.
On safety front New Volkswagen Jetta comes with features like 6 airbags including side and curtain airbags as standard, fatigue detection system, disc brakes, Anti-lock braking system with brake assist, EBD, Anti-slip regulation (ASR), electronic differential lock, hill hold control, height adjustable front seat belts with belt tensioners, electronic engine immobilizer, central locking with 2 remotes, Parking distance control for front and rear with acoustic warning, cruise control etc.
