In October 2014 Mercedes has showcased facelifted B class at Paris motor show and five months later Mercedes has launched it in India. New Mercedes-Benz B-class facelift now sports some cosmetic changes inside-outside and a new powerful engine. New B class facelift is available in one diesel and petrol engine at the starting price of Rs. 27.95 lakh (Ex-showroom Mumbai).  B-class is one of the most successful cars for Mercedes retailing over 3.5 lakh units since 2011.

Price:

 The more powerful B-class facelift is available in two variants B180 sport variant is available at Rs. 27.95 lakh while the diesel variant dubbed as B200 CDI sport would cost you Rs. 28.95 lakh. Both the prices are ex-showroom Mumbai.

Engine details:

Most of the facelift models changes are constrained to either cosmetic or cabin changes or both but in case of B-class facelift it’s in engine segment too. Mercedes has replaced 107bhp version of its diesel engine with more powerful 134bhp one. The B200 CDI sport now gets 2.1L diesel engine that develops 134bhp power@3600-4400rpm and 300Nm of peak torque@1600-3000rpm.

The Petrol engine is however same, the B180 Sport continues to be powered by 1.6L in-line petrol engine which is able to produce 120bhp power@5000rpm and 200Nm torque@1250-4000rpm.

Both the engines are based on MFA architecture (Modular front Architecture) and coupled to a 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission with paddles which shifts power to front wheels of B-class.

Space and Dimensions:

Dimension wise new B-class is 34mm longer than the previous model with 4393mm length, 2010mm width and 1557mm height with the wheelbase of 2699mm. The new B-class offers seating capacity for 5 persons and generous boot space of 486 liters which can be expanded up to 1547 liters.

Exterior and Interior:

Mercedes Benz new B-class flaunts some cosmetic changes which somehow reminds of new C class. The external changes in B-class are subtle like redesigned front-rear bumpers, headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, redone tail lights; new under-lip for rear bumper completes the list of external changes.

Inside the cabin as well there is an influence of C-class like carbon fibre and metal inserts, red stitching on seats and steering, new leather wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, 12 ambient lighting themes, sporty instrument cluster, new seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, two new upholstery option- all black and a beige one. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, seats with memory function, electrically adjustable support for driver seat, two USB ports, rear view camera and parking sensors.

Colors:

New Mercedes-Benz B-class is offered in four different color shades includes two metallic and two non-metallic colors. The metallic color shades are Polar Silver and Mountain Grey while Circus White and Jupiter Red are non-metallic ones. Inside the cabin the buyer will have the option of different upholstery.

Safety:

On safety front new B-class facelift carries usual safety features of Mercedes-Benz such as attention assist system which analyze driver’s behavior, adaptive braking includes integrated braking system, dry braking, hold function etc. New B-class facelift also features 7 airbags, Anti-lock braking system, acceleration skid control (ASR), hill start assist with hold function, tyre pressure monitoring system.
