This is it. The last product from the Mercedes-Benz arsenal this year has been launched in India. The A-class facelift has completed the company’s ‘15 in 15’ strategy which include 15 launches in a calendar year. The Baby Merc is launched in two variants- 180 sport and 200d sport, priced at Rs. 24.95 lakh and Rs. 25.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. First Showcased at Frankfurt motor show in September 2015, the new model exhibits an array of cosmetic changes and new features. In the Indian automotive market, A-class takes on BMW 1 series and Mini Cooper.

Price:

  • Mercedes-Benz A-180 Sport Petrol- Rs. 24.95 lakh
  • Mercedes Benz A-200 CDI diesel- Rs. 25.95 lakh  

Engine Details:

As said earlier, the A-class facelift is making it way with two variants: A 180 Sport featuring with turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that belts out 120bhp@5000rpm and 200 Nm@1250rpm and the A 200d with a 2.1l diesel engine producing 134bhp@3200-4000rpm and highest torque of 300 Nm between 1400-3000rpm. Both the variants are paired to a 7G-DCT dual clutch automatic gearbox with three driving modes– Comfort, Sport and Eco.

The A200d delivers an ARAI certified mileage of 20KMPL while the petrol is good for 15 KMPL. Both the models are capable of delivering brisk performance

Space and Dimensions:

The five door hatchback has a seating capacity for 5 persons and measures 4299mm in length, 1780mm of width and 1433mm of height. With decent 2699mm of wheelbase ensure good amount of cabin space. The A-class has a humongous boot space of 341 liters and fuel tank capacity of 50 liters.

Colors:

The A-class facelift is available in five color shades which are Cosmos black, Jupiter red, Polar Silver, Cirrus white and all new Elbait green.

Exterior and Interior:

The overall profile remains intact with sloping roofline and roof spoiler; however it sports new detailing for the front with new large air inducts, reworked bi-xenon headlamps with LED DRLs and headlamp cleaning system, revised diamond grille with three star logo and reprofiled bumper. The facelifted model gets a new set of alloy wheels to make car sportier than before. Renewed LED Tail lamps, updated rear bumper with fresh dual exhaust tip now add more chunk to the overall profile.

The subtle tweaks continues inside as well as it gets an updated 8 inch command infotainment central screen with Mirror link and Apple car play, new three spoke multifunction leather wrapped steering wheel with plethora of buttons including telephone, navigation system, tinted panoramic sunroof with one touch function, new seats with ARTICO leather and exclusive package including black leather and Sahara beige upholstery.

Safety:

Mercedes-Benz is known for equipping its car with top notch safety aids and the new the luxury hatch is no different as it comes with seven airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake force distribution), attention assist, adaptive brake with hold function, hill start assist, ESP (electronic stability program), tyre pressure loss warning system, traction control, Acceleration Skid Control (ASR), Curve Dynamic Assist, automatic locking of doors and much more.
