Reportedly, most reliable Indian brand Maruti Suzuki is planning to discontinue its sedan model Sx4 soon and one new sedan which is currently under production is going to fill this place. This new model is said to be named as Ciaz but currently it’s being called with a codename ‘YL1’. Maruti’s this model is expected to hit the Indian market floor by around September 2014. Let’s have a look what this new sedan is expected to bring with itself.

Price:
Well, while price of the ongoing Sx4 which is going to be replaced by this new Ciaz varies between 7.7-9.5 lakhs, this new sedan is expected to carry approx. similar price tags of around 7.2-10.5 lakhs.
Engine details:
Under the hood, it might get both petrol and diesel trims. This Ciaz is expected to carry the petrol unit of 1.4 liter K-series from the Ertiga which develops 93bhp & 130Nm of max power and peak torque respectively while the diesel unit is likely to be of 1.3 liter turbocharged Multijet churning out the max output of 90bhp and 200Nm of torque. Transmission wise, the petrol trim is mated with a 5-speed manual in its base variant while a 5-speed auto transmission is also said to be present in its top-end petrol variants. Contrary, the diesel unit will gear-up with a manual transmission gearbox only.
Meanwhile, the Ciaz can also get a CNG mil but it will be decided later after seeing the customer’s first response towards this new model.
Space & Dimension:
Though there are not any revealed reports by company regarding its space but we expect this new sedan to carry the approximately similar dimension and spacious cabin like the ongoing Sx4 with slightly ups & downs.
The ongoing Sx4 carries overall dimension of 4500mm x 1735mm x 1550mm along with the wheelbase of 2500 and ground clearance of 170mm.
Interior & Exterior:
The new Ciaz is going to be the updated version of Sx4 somehow, hence features and looks will be possibly upgraded too. Its top end trims are expected to get auto climate control, rear AC vents, audio system with USB & Bluetooth portability, wood trimmed dashboard, 16 inch alloy wheels and many more.
In terms of safety, ABS with EBD and dual airbags are expected to mark their presence to ensure its safety on-road.
Verdict:
This new yet to be launched sedan is looking like to have a slim and thin body with attractive glimpse and also enriches with comfort features. Along with it, company’s reliable image and excellent after sale service is a bonus point for the Maruti and customers both. In India, it will directly compete with other popular models like Honda City, Hyundai Verna and VW Vento etc.
