To pack a punch to Mercedes-Benz AMG cars, Audi has launched S5 Sportback in the country. Priced at Rs. 62.95 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi/Mumbai), it will be placed as a niche product and will serve to the needs of buyers who are looking for sportscar fun but without compromising on practicality. We were expecting it to be launched around July- August period but due to several other launches it is somehow holdup for the time being. With Festive season heating up, it is just the right time to bring the performance sedan in the country.

Engine details:

The performance oriented sedan is fuelled by a 3.0 litre TFSI V6 petrol engine which is good for 328bhp power@5500-6500rpm and 440Nm of peak torque between 2900-5300rpm. A seven speed S-tronic automatic gearbox transfers the power to all wheels via Audi’s Quattro permanent AWD system. The big engine enables car to make 0-100 sprint in just 5.1 seconds while offering limited top speed of 250km/hr.

Space and Dimensions:

Audi S5 is a full fledge five seater Sportback which offers ample amount of legroom space. It is 4718mm long, 1854mm wide and 1382mm tall. With the massive wheelbase of 2811mm, it is one of the spacious luxury vehicles right now.

Exterior and Interior:

In terms of design, S5 is typical Audi with signature multi slate single frame grille finished in platinum grey and houses company’s logo, meaty Xenon plus headlamps flanked by LED DRLs, 5 spoke 18 inch alloy wheels to give it the agile appearance. Rear gets the typical LED tail lights with dual exhaust pipes and aluminum finished blade to complete the look of the sportback. The S5 looks like a regular Audi model but it packs in some stupefying performance numbers to compliment it.

Features list includes a 7 inch MMI navigation plus infotainment system that houses a 505 watt Bang and Olufsen audio system with card readers and 20GB music store capability. The multi spoke flat bottom steering wheel along with paddle shifters wrapped in premium leather.

Alcantara Upholstery and optional Sporty S seats, automatic air conditioning, Slide and tilt panoramic sunroof, door sills with aluminum inlays, drilled pedals, electric seat adjustment, Audi parking system plus with rear view camera are some of the noticeable features that makes S5 the more desirable car.

The S5 gets Audi Drive Select feature which helps driver choosing from Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, efficiency and individual modes.

Colors:

The Sportback is making its presence felt in 11 exciting colors including metallic, solid and Pearl effect color schemes. The metallic options are Glacier white, Tornado grey, Moonlight blue, Floret Silver, Mythos black and Monsoon grey. There are two Solid colors-Ibis white and brilliant black along with three pearl effect options- Daytona grey, Sepang blue and Misano Red. There are several customized options to choose from Audi’s exclusive paint schemes.

Safety:

Audi S5 Sportback comes laden with customary safety aids like eight airbags includes front-rear airbags and head airbags system to protect occupants from side impacts. The German Giant has also provided features like electronic stability control (ESC) with brake assist, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with EBD (Electronic brake force distribution), all four disc brakes, tandem brake booster, diagonally spilt brake system with dual circuit, electronic differential control (EDC) and cruise control.
