Audi has finally launched the much awaited all new Q7 in India; with prices starting from INR 72 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Q7 is a mass favorite not only in India, but across the world and despite of being on sale for almost 8 years it still retail in good numbers. Audi seems to take that legacy and popularity forward as the new Q7 marks its second innings in the Indian market. The car was revealed in grand launch party at New Delhi in the presence of Audi’s two loyalists, Rising Star of Indian Cricket team and Test Captain Virat Kohli and team Director Mr. Ravi Shastri.

Price:

The 2016 Audi Q7 is launched two trims- Premium plus variant and technology pack trim. However, the good thing is that the new variants are not significantly pricier than the current model.

  • 2016 Audi Q7 Premium Plus- Rs. 72 lakh
  • 2016 Audi Q7 Technology Pack- Rs. 77.5 lakh

Engine Details:

For Indian market Q7 is available with a diesel heart only, and power comes from an improved avatar of 3.0l TDI engine belting out 245.4bhp power@2910-4510rpm and massive 600Nm of torque@1500-3000rpm, matched to an 8-speed dual clutch automatic transmission with Paddle shifters and Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive system. It can achieve 0-100 k/hr in impressive 7.1 seconds while offering the electronically limited top speed of 234km/hr.

According to Audi, new Q7 is 26 percent more fuel efficient than the ongoing model and delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 14.75 KMPL. The new Q7 is built on an all-new Volkswagen MLB platform with intensive use of aluminum components and it weighs approximately 300 klesser than the current model.

Space and Dimensions:

Dimension wise the new Q7 comes with shrunken dimensions as it is narrower and shorter than the current model but Audi claims that cabin space has been improved in the 2016 Q7. Dimensions for new Audi Q7 stands at 5050mm long, 1970mm wide and 1740mm tall, also the wheelbase has been reduced by 10mm to 2990mm. The Q7 is a seven seater SUV with maximum boot space of 1955 liters.

Colors:

The famed SUV making its presence felt in six cool shades which are Carrara white, Graphite grey metallic, Argus brown metallic, Floret Silver metallic, Ink blue metallic and Orca black metallic.

Exterior and Interior:

With this new update, the bulkiness of the SUV has been significantly reduced and now it looks meaner and angular than ever. At front is a new Single frame grille with 3D effect flanked by famed Audi’ Matrix LED headlights with arrow shaped LED DRLs. The Side profile is dominated by a prominent shoulder line, two new alloy wheel design, sloping roofline and Chrome strip at bottom of the doors. The rear profile has also been re-worked with new LED tail lamps with dynamic turn signals, twin tail exhausts lending the sleek aesthetics.

Interior is probably the talking point of new Q7 as it features a virtual cockpit instrument display we have seen on TT version and stylish looking dashboard with integrated A/C vents. It comes loaded with host of features such as 8.3 inch touchpad with handwriting recognition and multi touch capability, 12.3” stand stone digital TFT MMI screen with Navigation, apple car play and Android auto, Bang and Olufsen surround sound system with 19 speakers.

Apart from this, there’s a rear seat entertainment package with Android tablets, knob shifter, four zone automatic climate control with temperature display, four spoke multi function steering wheel with paddle shifters and audio controls, premium leather seats with adjustability function, electric third row fold down feature, Panoramic sunroof and Audi drive select with five standard modes- Comfort, auto, dynamic, individual and off road.

Safety:

The new Q7 achieved 5-star ratings on the EURO NCAP crash tests due to solid build quality flanked by prominent safety features such as eight airbags includes front, side and 2nd row seats. Other safety aids include 360 degree camera with bird eye view, electronic stabilization control (ESC), adaptive air suspension, cruise control, auto park assist, cruise control, hill assist, Audi pre-sense basic and many more.
