New Toyota Camry hybrid launched in India at Rs. 31.98 lakh

When we think of Hybrid powertrains, Toyota instantly strikes our mind. The brand recently achieved an amazing feat crossing 1 Crore sales mark for its hybrid cars. Toyota has now launched 2017 Camry Hybrid in India, priced competitively at Rs. 31.98 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi); it is all set to take on Skoda Superb and Honda Accord Hybrid. The new model also benefits under government’s FAME (Faster adoption and manufacturing of electric cars) initiative by up to Rs. 70,000. However it is still 1.08 lakh dearer than the current model.

Toyota hasn’t made changes under the hood; it continues to feature a 2.5 litre petrol engine which is paired to an exclusive electric motor delivering a combined output of 205PS. Power is sent to front wheels via a CVT automatic gearbox. New Camry claims to return an ARAI mileage of 19.16 Kmpl.

Talking about the changes, 2017 Camry gets LED headlamps and LED Fog lamps along with other features including 18 inch alloy wheels, auto folding and reverse linked ORVMs with memory and welcomes lamp. New Camry is still offered in six color options White Pearl Crystal Shine, True Blue Mica Metallic, Gray Metallic, Silver Metallic, Attitude Black and Dark Brown Mica Metallic.

Inside the cabin, new Camry it received subtle updates like collapsible headrest for front passenger, new interface for navigation, 12 speaker JBL speakers, new dash silencer and wireless mobile charging, power recline rear seats, new reverse parking camera with corner sensors, automatic climate control, electrically operated rear seat via switches on armrest with temperature control.

For Safety, the Camry comes loaded with nine airbags (two more the outgoing model), vehicle stability control, traction control, ABS, EBD, ISOFIX mounted rear seats, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill start assist control and new emergency brake signal to name a few.
