New Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Price, specifications and features

Maruti Suzuki has launched 2017 iteration of its bestselling compact sedan Dzire in India at a starting price of Rs. 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). In its third generation, new Dzire is based on an all new HEARTECT platform making it lighter, more rigid and feature loaded than ever. Interestingly, it has ditched Swift prefix from its nomenclature. The sedan is available in both petrol and diesel trims in four grades- Lxi/Vdi, Vxi/Vdi, Zxi/Zdi and Zxi+/Zdi+/. The bookings have already started at all Maruti dealerships across the country for a token amount of Rs. 11,000.

Price

Available in 14 trims, new Dzire starts at Rs. 5.45 lakh for base petrol and it goes up to Rs. 8.41 lakh for the range topping trim. While the diesel starts at Rs. 6.45 lakh and goes all the way to Rs. 9.41 lakh. All prices are of ex-showroom Delhi.

Engine Details

Under the hood of new Maruti Dzire is same set of engines but with more efficient numbers. It will get power from 1.2l K series petrol that makes 82bhp power and 113Nm of torque while 1.3l DDis diesel engine is good for 74bhp power and 190Nm of torque. Both the units comes with 5-speed manual transmission as standard along with 5-speed AMT as optional. Thanks to new platform, 2017 Dzire now delivers best in class mileage of 28.40 Kmpl for diesel and 22.00 Kmpl for petrol.

Space and Dimensions

The 2017 Dzire measures 3995mm in length, 1735mm in width, 1515mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2450. The sedan is 40mm wider, 40mm shorter in height and now sits on 20mm of longer wheelbase. The front and rear shoulder space has been increased by 20mm and 30mm respectively translating into spacious cabin for the passengers. The ground clearance is now reduced to 163mm while boot space has been increased up by 62 liters to 378 liters.

Exterior and Interior

Unveiled last month, 2017 Maruti Dzire is a completely new model with a major essence of next Gen Swift.  The front fascia is adorned by new horizontally hexagonal grille, chrome accented air dam, new projector headlamps with LED daytime running lamps. The side profile is largely similar to previous model except for the flared wheel arches and new alloy wheels. Sedan looks more proportionate thanks to C-pillar that merges into the boot. At rear, it gets LED tail lights with signature light and subtle changes on the boot.

On the inside, things now look plush with features like flat bottom multi function steering wheel, automatic climate control with rear ac vents, leather wrapped electronic power steering, internally adjustable wing mirrors, push start button and wooden inserts on dashboard, steering and door trims. The Entertainment quotient is taken care by a 7.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto, Mirror Link, Apple Car Play and voice recognition.

Colors

There are six colors on offer with the new Dzire- Pearl arctic white, Oxford Blue, Sherwood Brown, Gallant Red, Magnum Grey and Silky Silver.

Safety

As for the safety, dual front airbags, ABS (Anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake force distribution) with BA (brake assist), front seat belts with force limiters and pre-tensioners and ISOFIX child seats are standard across the range. Other features include reverse parking camera, anti-pinch guard window, speed sensitive door lock, front fog lamps, rear defogger etc.
