Honda cars, the Japanese brand will launch its newest iteration of premium sedan Accord in India around the upcoming festive season. The car was first showcased at 2016 Indian auto expo and has also spotted on test runs number of times. Sources have confirmed that new Honda Accord will hit the Indian showrooms on 30th October 2016, with an expected asking price around Rs. 20-24 lakh for base variant. Some dealerships have started accepting bookings for the same at a token amount of Rs. 51,000.

The new Accord will be offered in Petrol as well as hybrid powertrains, the latter will get a 2.0 litre iVTEC engine which will be linked with twin electric motors and a 1.3 KW lithium ion battery. The cumulative output figures stand at 196bhp of which 141bhp will come from hybrid motor. The high torque might stand around 300Nm while efficiency figures might hover around 23kmpl. In Hybrid form, the car can attain the top speed of 120km/hr.

Besides hybrid motor, the premium sedan will also get a 2.4 litre petrol engine rated to deliver 185bhp of power and will be linked to 6-speed CVT automatic gearbox.

The new model is 25kgs lighter than the previous model however the length and width has been reduced by 80mm and 25mm respectively. But company claims that the space inside will be apt as the 2016 Accord is based on Man Maximum, machine minimum technology.

Coming to the design, the front looks aggressive thanks to sharp LED headlamps, huge bonnet, large blackish front chrome grille, LED fog lamps and revamped bumper. The side profile flaunts clutter free design flanked by new alloy wheels and chrome door handles. The rear of the sedan gets new patter LED tail lamps, chrome highlights on the boot lid and revised bumper to enhance the overall feel of the car.

On the feature front, it is expected to get a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with apple car play, android Auto, voice recognition and GPS navigation. Other highlights include automatic climate control, piano black inserts on the central console, new multi function steering wheel, new interiors with faux wood insert dashboard, six airbags, hill hold assist, rear view camera etc.

Once launched, it will take on the likes of Toyota Camry Hybrid, Skoda Superb, and upcoming Volkswagen Passat.
