MINI Launches 2015 Cooper S in India at Rs. 34.65 Lakhs

MINI Line-up in India gets a new member in the form of new MINI cooper S which is a performance based version of this popular hatchback series. In November 2014 MINI had launched MINI 3-door and 5-door versions of diesel cooper in India and now introduces more powerful Cooper S in India, probably the sportiest and fastest hatchback in the country. After the launch of 3-door and 5-door versions in India, MINI able to register decent amount sales numbers in the country.

The 2015 MINI Cooper S is launched in India at the price tag Rs. 34.65 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) available only in 3-door configuration.  The new MINI Cooper S equipped with more powerful engine; it is powered by a 2.0L petrol motor that develops 192bhp power@4700-6000rpm and 280Nm torque@1250rpm.

This 2.0L engine allows Cooper S to sprint 0-100 in 6.7 seconds with the claimed top speed of 233 km/hr and power is sent to front wheels via a six speed Steptronic automatic transmission. MINI Cooper S returns efficient ARAI certified mileage of 17 KMPL even with such powerful figures. MINI Cooper s with tuned suspension will provide enjoyable driving experience as before and go kart like ride and handling dynamics.

2015 MINI Cooper S is based on UKL front wheel drive platform and it is longer, larger than its predecessor. New MINI Cooper S in now 98mm longer, 44mm wider and 7mm taller than previous model with new dimensions of 3850×1727×1414mm while boot space is same. As a result of extended dimensions new Cooper S is now more Spacious.

New MINI Cooper S looks similar to Cooper D with almost same front side and retro interiors but there are some features that differentiate S Cooper from other MINI variants such as redesigned black honeycomb radiator grille with ‘S’ badge at both front and rear side, larger air intakes, air dig on the bonnet, flared wheel arches and optional 17 inch cosmos alloy wheels.

To improve the ergonomics inside the cabin the speedometer has been moved behind the steering wheel and central console now sports an 8.8 inch touchscreen infotainment system while other features remain same as previous model. MINI Cooper S gets front dual airbags, crash sensors, cornering brake control, ABS, EBD and many more safety features.

The car is available in 11 color shades and customization options will provide buyers an option to customize the Cooper S as they want to. More Customization options from popular John Cooper work (JCW) are also under consideration and will be launched soon.

The MINI Cooper S will be sold via completely build unit (CBU) and will serve in the niche segment as there is not real competition available in the country.
