The Stuttgart based car manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz has expanded its S-class range in India with the launch of S-Class Connoisseur’s edition. The uber luxurious sedan is available in two variants- S350d which priced at Rs. 1.21 Crore and S400 at Rs. 1.32 crores (ex-showroom Delhi). Connoisseur’s is the fourth launch for the year from the Mercedes-Benz this year. Highlight of the flagship includes Night View rear assist and executive rear left seat which gives firm thigh support and seat reclination up to 43.5 degrees.

The Night view assist enhances driver’s visibility during night runs as it utilizes infrared lamps to lighten up the roads ahead. The Infrared camera is placed behind the windscreen and displays the outcome as an image on car’s digital MID. In addition, there’s a thermal camera on the front grille which helps to differentiate animals and pedestrians in front of the car and signifies their presence on the digital MID.

The S Class ‘Connoisseur’s Edition’ is loaded with range of comfort features such as voice command, 1540 W Burmester sound system with 24 speakers, Linguatronic system, air balance package with six fragrances option, filtering for re-circulating air, fully adjustable front seats with three stage memory, and inclusion of cushion bag to improve occupant protection in case of frontal crash.

The Chauffer package offers automated extending footrest and creates comfortable reclined position. The hot stone massage function has six different schedules from relaxing to stimulating and energizing effect. Passengers can also choose from two intensity levels- Low and High. The massage function can be accessed via remote with 12-15 minutes.

When it comes to safety, the Connoisseur’s edition features 8 airbags, PRE-SAFE, adaptive brake with hold function, 360 degree surround view camera, electronic stability program (ESP), active park assist, brake assist, ASR and hill start assist as standard.

The S350d is powered by a 3.0 litre V6 diesel engine that belt outs 255bhp power@3600rpm and 620Nm of torque between 1600-2400rpm while the S400 is backed by a 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine that makes 329bhp power@5250-6000rpm and 480Nm of torque@1600-4000rpm. Both the engines are linked to a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
