Mercedes-Benz ML Class Successor ‘GLE’ Class SUV Revealed

There seems to be no slowing down for Mercedes-Benz in verge to become dominant luxury car maker again. Mercedes-Benz new GLE SUV has been revealed in both its regular and AMG avatars. The official unveiling is still a week away which is scheduled at the New York motor show but the images of new GLE have been already on the web. New GLE shares same design cues but it is based on company’s new nomenclature.

New GLE SUV will also be the first Merc SUV to have a plug-in Hybrid variant and it will get new styling and equipments. The Merc also claims that the CO2 omission levels are reduced by 17 percent as compared to ML class. Mercedes-Benz GLE class will be jam-packed with luxury, space and various safety features.

New GLE will not features dramatic cosmetic changes but alterations at the front are significant. New GLE will sports twin slat thick grille, new headlamp units with eyebrow raised LED daytime running lights, silver skid plate and revised front bumper. The side profile remains same except the new 20 inch alloy wheels makes it way to new GLE while at the rear SUV features restyled tail lights, tweaked bumper and sporty tail pipes.

Inside the GLE SUV you gets typical Merc cabin with top-notch quality and overall layout remains same as ML- class. Inside the cabin there are few changes that make GLE different from current ML-class with new steering wheel, a 20 CD audio system with a 7-inch central standing display, command controller at central console with touchpad.

The cabin of GLE is available with different interior color options such as saddle brown, ginger beige and espresso brown with black interior combo.

Engine options of GLE SUV include five engines- two petrol, two diesel and a Hybrid variant. All the diesel variants will be mated a 9 speed automatic transmission as standard.

The GLE SUV plug-in Hybrid variant would use a3.0L blue-direct injection petrol motor that does duty collectively with 114bhp electric motor with 650Nm torque can achieve a top speed of 130km/hr.
