Mercedes-Benz Launches E400 Cabriolet in India at Rs. 78.5 Lakh

The German auto major Mercedes-Benz has launched two new vehicles as the part of its’15 in 15’ strategy. Mercedes today launched E400 Cabriolet in India at Rs. 78.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi); the car is brought up to the country via CBU route. E400 Cabriolet has no real competition in the country and will serve in a niche segment, so it will be a halo product than volume seller.

E400 Cabriolet undoubtedly was the most eye catchy car of the launch which derives its design cues from E-class sedan. E-class cabriolet looks identical to E- class sedan while the three star, single slat grille will remind you of E63 AMG. The sporty character is further enhanced by aggressive front bumper with wide air dam, LED headlamps with daytime running lights.

Side profile is augmented by a set of sporty 18 inch twin 5 spoke alloy wheels while at the rear side gets two-stage LED tail lamps and chrome element above number plate. But the centre of attraction is the fully automatic soft roof top that can be operated (Open & close) at the speeds up to 40 KM/hr within 20 seconds.

The E400 Cabriolet comes loaded with plethora of premium features including cloud based Mercedes Benz app for web connectivity, 7” TFT display with Mercedes command online system, AIRCAP, retraceable reflector on windscreen, ambient lighting in three new colors.

Cabin is further beautifies by three spoke multi function steering wheel, wide range of leather and wooden material used inside the cabin, brushed aluminum pedals.

In safety segment there is no deficiency of features, the Mercedes E400 Cabriolet gets adaptive high beam assist, 360 degree camera, hill start assist, Anti-lock braking system, electronic stability program, tyre pressure monitoring system, active parking assist, 9 airbags, PRE-safe system, Neck-Pro head restraints and high torsion construction strengthens the body structure of E400 cabriolet.

Powering the E400 cabriolet is the 3.5L V6 petrol engine developing 328bhp power@5200-6000rpm and 480Nm torque@1600-4000rpm comes mated to a seven speed automatic gearbox. The E400 convertible can do 0-100 km sprint in 5.3 seconds with the electronically limited speed of 250 km/hr.

E400 Cabriolet is available in four colors- Black, red, brown and blue and will serve as a niche product in India.
