The E-class, Mercedes-Benz’ one of the bestselling luxury sedans in the country has been launched in its latest avatar. The new E-class is available in two variants- E200 petrol which is priced at Rs. 56.15 lakh while E350d CDI cost at Rs. 69.47 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). 2017 E-class is the first right hand drive long wheelbase in the world and India is the second market after China to get LWB version.

In its tenth generation, new class takes on Jaguar XF, Audi A6 and BMW 5-series. On the design front, it takes inspiration from the bigger S-class and hosts LED headlights with LED daytime running lights and LED tail lights with stardust effect. The sedan comes with generous amount of space thanks to longer wheelbase freeing up 134mm of legroom space. Besides, new E-class measures 5063mm in length which is 205mm longer than the outgoing model and 3079mm of wheelbase (140mm more than the current model). The 2017 E-class LWB is available in five colors- Iridium Silver, Citrine brown, Polar white, Obsidian black and Selenite grey.

Apart from spacious cabin, it is loaded with features like 13 speaker burmester audio system, panoramic roof, a 12.3 inch command online display with Apple car play, Android auto and Smartphone integration, steering wheel with touchpad control, piano black central console with touch control pad, Airmatic air suspension, electronic recliner seats with 37 degrees, ARCTICO leather upholstery, tri-zone automatic control and much more.

Mercedes also offers host of customization options such various interior trim options and 64 shades ambient lighting. The Sedan can park itself thanks to 360 degree aerial view cameras, driver assist and front-rear parking sensors. Other features include 7 airbags, ABS with brake assist, electronic stability program (ESP), tyre pressure monitoring system, central locking with interior switch etc.

The powertrains are carried from the previous generation model. The E200 petrol is powered by a 2.0l turbocharged engine that makes 184bhp of max power and 300Nm of torque while the E350d gets a 3.0l V6 diesel mill that belts out max power of 258bhp and 620Nm of torque. Sending power to rear wheels is a new 9-speed tronic automatic transmission.
