Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Facelift launched in India at Rs. 8.49 lakh

After a week delay, Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the S-Cross facelift in India with an introductory price of Rs. 8.49 lakh while top variant comes at Rs. 11.29 lakh (both ex-showroom Delhi). The facelift is available diesel motor only in four trim levels- Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The bookings for the premium crossover have already begun at company’s authorized dealerships at an amount of Rs. 11,000. The competition will come against Honda BR-V, Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.

The 1.6L DDiS 320 diesel engine has been discontinued from the 2017 S-Cross lineup due to less demand. So the newer version is only available with a 1.3l DDis 200 diesel engine that makes 89bhp of max output at 4000rpm and 200Nm of torque@1750rpm. The engine is linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Crossover is loaded with several features such as Torque assist, Idle Start-stop, Gear shift indicator and Brake Energy Regeneration. The fuel efficiency has also gone up from 23.6 Kmpl to 25.1 Kmpl.

In terms of changes, front gets more upright vertically slated chrome grille, chiselled bonnet, LED projector headlamps with LED DRL, sportier and muscular dual tone front bumper with integrated scuff plates and silver treatment for Fog lamps. Side remains identical to the previous generation save for new alloy wheels with dual tone treatment. At the rear, bumper and LED tail lights receive minor changes. The front changes have definitely injected new refreshing feel to the S-Cross facelift.

Changes aren’t limited to exteriors; cabin also comes with minor tweaks like an updated Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system which is now compatible with Apple carplay and Android Auto. There’s all black interior, new interior colour, updated instrument cluster with new MID (multi-information display), all black interior and contrast stitching on the leather seat upholstery etc.

Other standard features include leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, auto dimming IRVM, rain sensing wipers and LED positioning lamps. In terms of safety, the crossover features dual airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belt pre-tensioners with force safe limiters and ISOFIX child seat mounts as standard across the range.

The new S-Cross is available in five paint schemes- Nexa Blue, Granite Grey, Caffeine Brown, Premium Silver and Pearl Arctic White. At tape, S-Cross measures 4300 mm in length, 1785 mm in width, 1595 mm in height and sits on a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. The boot capacity is 810 litres with the rear seats folded.
