Maruti Suzuki Dzire tour to farewell by March 2017

Maruti Suzuki, India’s apex auto giant is reportedly looking to halt the production of Dzire tour by March 2017. This move could be the result of next-gen Swift Dzire which is slated for early 2017. The Dzire tour is immensely popular in taxi fleet market and used by leading taxi operators like Ola and Uber. The discontinuation of Dzire tour would also free up the production capacity for demanding models like Vitara Brezza and Baleno hatchback.

When the current gen model was launched in 2012, MSI has renamed the LXI and LDI variants of the previous model as Dzire tour. The USP of previous gen model was its spacious cabin, great ride quality so as a result, it managed to hold the pole position in the taxi fleet market. The car still retails at 3000 units a month mark and last month MSI sold 3017 units.

In verge to maintain sales momentum in the segment against Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo, Ford Aspire, the 2017 Dzire comes with several exterior and interior upgrades. Besides new powerful 1.5l Diesel engine, it could also come with mild hybrid SHVS system and AMT gearbox.

Rumours might also suggest that Maruti might follow the similar trend and launch the strip down variant of Dzire under the same tour nomenclature. The current Dzire tour is priced at Rs. 4.88 lakhs and Rs. 5.91 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the petrol and diesel trims.
