Mahindra XUV500 facelift likely to be launched with minor changes in India on 25th May 2015

Mahindra and Mahindra, India’s leading SUV maker is expected to launch XUV500 facelift on 25th May 2015 in the country. Mahindra introduced XUV500 in September 2011 and since then it has been ruling the segment, but now it started to show its age on sales numbers. To breathe a new life into the sales charts Mahindra will launch XUV500 in a refreshed Avatar soon.

Mahindra XUV500 facelift has been spied in the country many times in camouflage and pictures of refreshed XUV500 have been making news for a while now. According to Spied images, new XUV500 gets cosmetic changes and additional features in the cabin.

Expected changes:-

  • New Front grille with chrome treatment that looks inspired from New GEN Scorpio
  • New headlamp cluster with LED daytime running lights
  • Chrome surrounded ‘L-shaped’ fog lamps
  • New 10-spoke alloy wheels
  • New Purple color shade
  • Chrome garnished number plat at rear

The interiors of refreshed XUV500 will see some minor changes like dashboard now come with beige color, new color, updated upholstery and Blue sense App to make XUV500 more up market.

Under the skin, refreshed XUV500 is likely to get same 2.2L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that churns out 140bhp power and 330Nm of torque and will be offered in 2WD and 4WD variants. XUV500 would be mated to a six speed manual gearbox and word is that an automatic gearbox could be introduced with the facelift and a Hybrid variant too.

The facelift version might be tuned for better performance and improved fuel efficiency by tweaking the gear ratios. The facelift XUV500 to be pitched against Tata Safari Strome, Renault Duster etc. and expect a price domain of Rs. 11-15 lakh (ex-showroom).
