Mahindra Thar rugged SUV to get a facelift soon and our trusted sources has revealed that the company will launch Thar facelift on 22nd July 2015 in the country. The vehicle was spied many times earlier this year with and without camouflage. The first GEN Thar was launched in 2010, since then it is due for an update and the upcoming Thar will receive subtle cosmetic changes and a few added equipments.

Speaking about the Thar facelift, the vehicle will not undergo any drastic changes. Majority of the changes are cosmetic which include a new plastic/metal front and rear bumper, revised bonnet, larger footsteps, a new soft top with transparent windows and tilted canopy at rear.

While the exterior changes are very few, the cabin gets some really substantial ones such as HVAC (Heating Ventilation and air conditioning) system, new placing for AC vents with silver finish and new central console design with Thar branding all of that refreshes the vehicle.

The list just doesn’t end here, the Thar facelift also get, new seats which looks wider than before, beige gear with two cup holders, three piece instrument cluster with chrome rings, dual tone dashboard and beige central console that extended to gear lever, hand brake and transfer case to add a premium touch.

Currently Mahindra Thar is available with two engine options- 2.5L DI and a 2.5L CRDe engines. The former is a 2523cc diesel engine developing 63bhp power and 182.5Nm of max torque@1500-1800rpm. The bigger 2.5L CRDe engine generates 103bhp power@3800rpm and 247Nm of torque@1800-2800rpm.

Both the engines are paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox offering All-wheel drive (AWD) and two wheel drive (2WD) system. Since there is no official word on the engines, it’d better to assume that it will sport the same above mentioned engines.

Expect the price new Mahindra Thar to be in the same range as current i.e. Rs. 5-8 lakh (ex-showroom) and it will take on Force Gurkha.
