Ever since the diesel car ban was instated in the Delhi-NCR region, various carmakers are trying new ways to evade it. Mahindra, the leading UV homegrown automajor was probably the first one who acted in this direction by launching the downsized 1.99 litre diesel engine for the Delhi-NCR region. During that period, Mahindra also launched the Intelli Hybrid technology with a 2.2 litre in rest of India, now finally the ban affected also gets the same technology but with downsized 1.99 litre engine.

The Intelli Hybrid has been introduced at a starting price of Rs. 9.35 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi) for the S4 trim. Besides, the mild hybrid kit can also be opted with other variants like S4+, S4+ AWD, S6+, S8, S10-2WD (Manual Transmission) and S10-4×4 MT. The new variant will be benefited with concessional value added tax (VAT) in Delhi which translates into the dispensation ranging between Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 80,000, depending upon the grade.

Under the bonnet things remain unchanged; it gets the power from a 1.99l litre mhawk diesel engine that puts out 120bhp and 280Nm of torque, linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This new technology is said to reduce the fuel consumption by 7 percent and switches off the engine after 3 seconds of idling situation. It supply power to the engine during acceleration and utilizes brake energy to charge the battery thanks to regenerative braking feature. Expect this technology to cover entire Mahindra’s line up in near future.

The SUV can be had in seven or eight seating configurations and comes equipped with features like touchscreen infotainment system, anti-roll bar, projector headlamps with eye brow shaped LED daytime running lights, 17 inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control and much more.
