Just In: 2018 Mini Cooper now in India

The Mini has now launched its new 2018 Mini Cooper. It has introduced the 2018 models of the 3-door Cooper S and Cooper D, the 5-door Cooper D and the convertible Cooper S. All these versions of the vehicle will be imported in India through the CBU (completely built unit) route. It will be available across Mini dealerships starting June 2018. Exterior and Interior

New MINI gets the logo on the bonnet, comes with steering wheel, central instrument display and remote control. It also gets updated circular headlamps, circular ring LED daytime running lights and turn indicators. Its tail lamps now have a Union Jack design. On the interior front it gets 6.50-inch colour infotainment display with Bluetooth as standard. Another optional offering is a MINI wired package that has an 8.8-inch touch screen with Touchpad controller, MINI Find Mate, Navigation System Professional, MINI Connected XL, telephony with wireless charging and a 20GB internal hard drive for media storage. The vehicle also offers optional MINI Excitement package with 12-colour ambient lighting. Additionally it has panoramic sunroof, Apple CarPlay functionality, 12-speaker Harman Kardon music system and an 8-channel digital amplifier.  More of driver assistance features include cruise control, optional rear parking camera, park assistant and head-up display.

Engine Details

Coming to the engine performance, the 3-door Cooper S and the Convertible gets a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine that produces 192PS of maximum power and 280Nm of torque. The engine comes paired with a new 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The company claims that the 3-door Cooper S takes a top speed of 235 kmph and go from 0 to 100kmph in just 6.7 seconds. The other model that is the 3-door Cooper D and the 5-door Cooper D are powered by a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder diesel engine that produces 114PS of maximum power and 270Nm of peak torque. This model comes coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The prices of the updated models are as follows:

MINI 3-door Cooper D (Diesel) – 29.7 lakh INR

MINI 3-door Cooper S (Petrol) – 33.2 lakh INR

MINI 5-door Cooper D (Diesel) – 35 lakh INR

MINI Convertible Cooper S (Petrol) – 37.10 lakh INR

Safety

For safety the Mini Cooper offers dual front airbags, ABS with brake assist, dynamic stability control, cornering brake control and run-flat tyres as standard.

Other than these a choice of SPORT and GREEN modes are also on offer.
