Hyundai India silently drops some features from Elite i20

Hyundai Elite i20

Hyundai has deleted some features from its bestselling car Elite i20, not something we are used to hear or expect from South Korean car maker. Though every car manufacturer wants to see itself in green and profitable but it would have been good if the company made the formal announcement. Reportedly, these changes have been effective from this fiscal year i.e. from 1st April 2015, though there are no changes in price of the Elite i20 which is a disappointment.

Surprisingly, timing of the announcement seems to be questionable because it comes at a time when the feature rich Honda Jazz is pitted against it. The premium hatchback by Hyundai was considered to be among the most feature rich car in its segment and recently company announced to introduce a touchscreen infotainment equipped variant. But now has announced to cut some features even in the base variant.

Here is the variant wise list with the changes:-

Elite i20 ERA– The base variant of hatchback looses out on passenger side vanity mirror. The features of Magna variant remain unaltered.

Elite i20 Sportz– The mid variant is now devoid of driver side up auto function, leather packed steering wheel, gear knob, no boot lamp. Further the Sportz variant used to come with two foldable key but now will offer only one.

Elite i20 Sportz (O) – Similar to the Sportz variant, the (O) variant too come sans the leather packed steering wheel and gear knob along with the ticket holder.

Elite i20 Asta– The top range variant in the lineup now comes with only one 12V power socket instead of two while other features remain unaltered. Besides, HMIL is looking to equipped it with a touchscreen infotainment system in near future.

The i20 active does not get any changes.

The Hyundai Elite i20 mechanically remains same and continues to be powered by a same 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which churns out 88 PS power and 115 Nm of max torque and a 1.4-litre four-cylinder diesel motor which is capable of delivering 90 PS power and 220 Nm torque. The petrol motor comes mated to a 5-speed MT whereas the diesel gets a 6-speed Manual gearbox.

Hyundai is gearing up for the launch of touchscreen equipped Elite i20 which is expected to be launched anytime now.
