Honda recalls 2.23 lakh cars in India

Honda has made a voluntary recall for 2, 23,578 cars in India to replace faulty airbag inflators as a part of its global recall campaign. The recall includes the previous GEN models of Jazz, City and Civic manufactured between 2003 and 2012. The company will replace the faulty part free of cost in phased manner starting from 12th October 2015. Honda will contact the affected customers directly in order to inform them about the recall.

However, the customers also can manually check by visiting Honda India’s website ‘www.hondacarindia.com’ and then submitting their 17 digit vehicle identification number (VIN) on the special microsite that has been created especially for that.

The recall consist around 1, 43,154 units of previous Gen City manufactured between 2007 and 12 followed by 54,290 units of Civic sedan produced between 2004-2011 and 13,073 units of CR-V made between 2004-2011. As for the previous GEN Jazz, Honda would recall 15707 units of the hatchback produced between 2009 and 2011.

All the aforementioned models would be recalled to replace both drive and side passenger airbag inflator except Jazz that only needs driver side inflator replacement. Over 30 lakh vehicles have been recalled till now from various manufactures including Nissan, Renault, and Toyota etc over the faulty airbags that were supplied by Japan’s Takata Corporation.
