Fiat India to launch Abarth 500 next month

Fiat! Fiat! Everywhere, Fiat has finally decided to launch its performance oriented car Abarth 500 in the month of November in India. Before that, Fiat is all set to present its Punto EVO based crossover Fiat Avventura on 21st October 2014 whose details are already on the official site of Fiat. Let’s move to the main point, Fiat Abarth 500 was showcased in Indian Auto Expo held earlier this year.  Since then there were lots of speculations about the launch of Abarth 500 which will finally come to an end next month with its launch.

Price of Abarth 500 to be around Rs. 25 lakh rivaling Mini cooper S and Volkswagen beetle in the segment. Abarth 500 will be launched in two engine power options one would be 1.4L fiat T jet petrol engine with 135Bhp power@5500rpm and 206Nm torque equipped with 5 speed manual transmission.

There will one top variant as ‘Essess’ model with higher engine specifications of 160BHP power and 230Nm torque mated with 6 speed automatic gearbox. The 160BHp version touches 0-100 mark in 7.9 seconds with the top speed of 205 km/hr sending power to front wheels. The 135Bhp version touches 0-100 km mark in just 8.1 seconds.

In terms of outer appearance Abarth 500 gets single front chrome line with circular projector headlamps, fog lights, sporty bumpers, 17 inch alloy wheels and lots of customization options.

On the inside Abarth 500 will be equipped with Hi-fi music system, Sporty seats, central consoled gear knob, aluminum pedals, contrast stitching on seats and elegant looking dashboard.

Abarth is loaded with various safety features to ensure optimum safety for the occupants:-

  • 7 airbags
  • Hydraulic brake assist
  • Antilock braking system
  • Electronic brake force distribution
  • KONI front shock absorbers
  • Electronic stability control

The Fiat Abarth 500 will be a CBU (completely built up unit) in order to strengthen the Fiat market share in Indian market and it will give launch pad to Abarth.
