Expert’s review on Hyundai Santa Fe

Hyundai Santa Fe@ 23.40 - 27.79 Lakhs

The experts have rated this SUV car 8.7/10 while users have rated 9.1/10. The car gives mileage of 18-21 mpg in city and 24-29 mpg on highway. It offers roomy cabin and a super comfortable ride. Among the cons are the sloppy handling, confused transmission and numb steering. South Korean car maker already has good sales record with compact Elantra and midsize Sonata and now with the new Santa Fe, Hyundai hopes to get the ‘tiara’ on its head!

With an online voting parameter on a site this car gets 8.2/10 while competitors Ford Explorer gets 8.8/10, Kia Sorento and Nissan pathfinder each gets 8.0/10. Starting at nearly Rs. 24 lacs this SUV is quite costly than the rival Mahindra XUV which is priced at half it’s price. Hyundai has added long wheelbase Santa Fe to replace Veracruz and rebranding short-wheelbase Santa fe as the sport. Logical?!!

This SUV was launched in 2010, but then Hyundai’s hopes could not match the sales, which is why the newer version has had complete makeover with Hyundai’s Fluidic design pattern. According to an expert the vehicle is the premium most and safest SUV available in Indian market. With remarkable exteriors the front chrome grill, headlamps, fog lamps and heat operated ORVMs and aerodynamic structure the SUV gives a sporty look. The roof rails and rear brake lights add to the looks and safety. The dual exhaust pipes at the rear, wheel arches and body coloured door handles gets irresistible glances from viewers.

The dual tone interiors comprised of upholstery and the touches of wood and chrome on the console and dash gives a royal look. The blue LED instrument lighting never gives a dull moment while driving and tachometer, speedometer and tripmeter adds to the sophistication of the console. The steering wheel is 4 spoke multi functioned with audio controls on it, and it can also be tilted as per convenience. Cruise control feature add to comfort. A unique feature is the dual zone temperature settings with rear A/C vents available for the 2nd and 3rd seat row passengers. Well that is a blessing in disguise!

The experts have extensively praised the 8 way adjustable driver seat, cool box, MT shift indicator, cluster ionizer and multiple storage options. According to them stylish interiors/exteriors and safety features are among the pros and high price tag and high maintainability cost are the cons. He drove the 2.2l CRDi monster and observed the mileage to be 14.66 kmpl and the car offers ample headroom, shoulder room and leg room according to him. But certain things he found missing were the GPS navigation system, reverse camera without audio system and headlight washers.

Overall the car is great on looks and comfort with intelligent instrument panel and gives a good mileage, the car is apt for those who love luxury and love to flaunt about their vehicles. And if you are one of those ambitious Hyundai fan, this vehicle will serve all your desires.
