BMW has launched the X1M-sport in India making the second launch of the day from the German ca manufacture. The X1 sDrive20d has been priced at Rs. 37.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The entry level SUV is now available with only a single trim and comes with host of changes. The ongoing model has been on sale since 2011 and received a gentle makeover in 2013 but it is not able to gain the pace in term of sales in India.

BMW has showcased new X1 just a few months ago at motor show and it is expected to make its India debut by 2016 auto expo. The updated X1 single variant launch clearly indicates that the company wants to clear the stock of current Gen X1 to make way for new GEN model.

On the outside, BMW X1 comes with sporty and aggressive front and rear bumpers, signature kidney grille with high gloss black finish; dual beam projector headlamps with LED DRLs, high gloss tail pipes and new 18 inch multi spoke alloy wheels.

The X1 M Sport is offered in two exterior colors- Alpine White and Le Mans Blue.

SUV’s interior updates include a leather wrapped M steering wheel, BMW Individual headliner in Anthracite, AC with micro filter, ambient lighting, IRVM with anti-dazzle function, sporty seats with adjustability and memory functions and BMW connect drive feature.

Except the aforementioned changes, there are no other changes to the BMW X1 sDrive20d sport. The updated model continues to take the juice from a 2.0l four cylinder diesel engine capable of 181bhp power@4000rpm and 380Nm of peak torque between 1750-2750rpm. Power is sent to rear wheels via an eight speed automatic gearbox and claims 17.06 kmpl of ARAI certified mileage.

As for the safety aspect, it sports six airbags, park distance control at rear with braking function, ABS with brake assist, dynamic stability control (DSC) with dynamic traction control (DTC), crash sensor, run flat indicator, three point seat belts for all passengers and side impact protection.

The current GEN model now look outdated and simple in front Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3, so we are not expecting drastic changes in terms of sales with the updated variant. But with new GEN model around the corner it will be interesting battle between the German Trio in 2016.
