As we informed earlier that VW has decided to end the production of its ongoing sedan Passat, but this classy car reveal its glimpse once again at the recently held 12th Auto Expo. While company displayed new Taigun SUV, the Passat was also there. Though, news regarding its re-launch has not been disclosed by the company there but by displaying this sedan again, company has given hint somehow of its launch in India. The all-new facelift model of Passat might unveil sometime in 2015.
The price range is also not disclosed yet but expected to have the same price range like the predecessor model with slightly ups and downs. The earlier Passat costs between 22.06-27.26 lakhs.
As per the revealed model and specs details at Motor Show, its highline variant is going to be equipped with same 2.0 liter TDI engine mated with 6-speed auto DSG transmission gearbox and good for developing the max power of 168bhp and peak torque of 350Nm.
Space & Dimension:
The five-seater Passat is 4769mm in length, 1820mm in width and 1470mm in height along with the 2711mm of wheelbase, 150mm of ground clearance and 565 liters of boot capacity.
Interior & Exterior:
Its revealed specs and features brochure tells that this Passat has designed with all requisite as well as comfort features which will be possibly fitted in all-new model too. These are Bi-Xenon headlights with cornering lights, headlamp washer system, chrome plated strips on side windows, chrome strip on boot lid, front fog lamps with static cornering light, LED daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, electric slide sunroof, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats, Keyless access system, light & sight package with rain sensor, Park distance control (front & rear) with acoustic warning & display on central infotainment system, rear view camera concealed in VW logo, climatronic air conditioner with 2-zone temperature control, exterior mirrors, electric adjustable, foldable, heated & with auto-dimming on driver’s side with memory, RCD 510 touchscreen music system with MP3 player including 6-CD changer, SD Card reader, Aux-in & 8 speaker and 16 inch “Barcelona” alloy wheels etc.
This highline variant of VW Passat also has a “BlueMotion Technologies” package which includes auto start-stop, gear shift indicator, brake energy recuperation and optimized gear ratios.
As per its safety side is concerned, company revealed the designed safety features of this car which consists of 6 airbags for front passengers, curtain airbags, driver and front passenger airbag, attention assist, electronic stability program (ESP) along with antilock braking system (ABS), brake assist, ASR, EDL & TCS, park assist (self parking system), ISOFIX mounting points for securing 2 child’s seats on rear seat etc. These all safety features in its highline variant definitely make this sedan one of the safest cars in same segment.
Car Zoom’s take:
The production of ongoing Passat had already been ended by its company. The reason behind this step is said to be mainly their not so good sales and bad popularity in the market. It could just manage the overall sales of 235 units during the June-November of the previous year, 2013. According to the Volkswagen, the existing stock of Passat has been cleared and company is not planning to launch the next-gen model of New Passat until 2015. Hence, they’d decided to end the production now.
Well, as Passat has been unveiled again at Auto Expo, we hope that company will bring some new modifications and renovations in this sedan in a form of new facelift model and also this time it will touch its expected sales graph.
