Auto Expo 2018: Hyundai Kona Revealed

Hyundai Kona

Hyundai at the Auto Expo came up with the Iron Man edition of the Kona Sans. The company is planning to launch the compact electric SUV in India by the CKD route in 2019. The Hyundai Kona is said to be the first Electric Vehicle from the Korean carmaker. Here are more details:

Exterior and Interior

The Kona is a well-styled SUV. The EV’s design is similar to its prior standard model. Though the car features Hyundai’s new ‘Cascade’ grille, it has the slim LED daytime running lights positioned above the main headlights giving the car a distinctive look. The SUV has a mix of light-catching lines at the sides while the wheel cladding that wraps around the rear end and houses the indicator and reversing lights lends the Kona a jazzy look. The car also gets LED rear lights and a spoiler. The Iron Man edition is 40mm wider than the regular Kona and also gets flashy 19-inch alloy wheels.

The interior of the Kona has a premium look. The dash houses a floating infotainment screen with sizes that vary between 5 to 8 inches. The heads-up display is also a good option, making the SUV’s cabin an appealing one.

Engine

In the international markets, the Kona gets both the petrol and diesel engine variants. However, in India, it will not have a combustion engine at all and would be an EV only. Final specifications, that the EV would carry is still not out but is expected to run 300 km on a full charge. Earlier, it was reported that the SUV would arrive in India with conventional powertrain but now it is coming only in the electric versions.
