2017 Volvo V40, V40 Cross country launched in India

Usually December is regarded a dosser month for new car launches but this year is different as frenzy of launches has taken place in last week or so. Swedish carmaker Volvo has launched the updated V40 and V40 Cross country in India. The former which is available in top spec D3 design trim priced at Rs. 28.53 lakh while it’s Cross sibling sets you back at Rs. 29.4 lakh for the inscription grade and Rs. 27.2 lakh for the momentum variant. The Kinetic variant has been dropped from the line up.

The refreshed V40 and V40 Cross country draws power from the same 2.0 litre diesel mill that churns out 149bhp of max power and 320Nm of peak torque, mated to a six speed automatic gearbox that sends power to front wheels. In addition, the Cross country is available with a 2.0 litre T4 petrol motor that churns out 190PS power and 300Nm of torque, linked to same six speed automatic transmission.

Both Volvo V40 and V40 Cross country receives reprofiled front fascia flanked by signature Thor hammer LED headlamps, waterfall design front grille embedded with Volvo Logo, 16/17 inch alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. Additionally, Cross country sports raised suspension and matte black cladding.

The interiors remain almost similar to its previous version albeit three new leather upholstery for V40 and 5 new leather trims for Volvo V40 cross country. In terms of features, the updated versions include automatic climate control with interior air quality system, personal car communicator with keyless entry and drive, power operated front seats with memory, front-rear parking camera, big panoramic sunroof, USB enabled high performance audio system, gear shift paddles.

For safety, both are equipped with park assist pilot + park assist, safety cage, 2-stage front airbags with driver knee bag, dynamic stability, traction control, pedestrian airbag, emergency brake assist with ABS, side impact protection, pretensioners for front seats and whiplash protection.
