All set to take the top spot in the segment again, highly anticipated Honda City facelift has been launched in India. Priced at Rs. 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the 2017 city features cosmetic changes along with revised feature list and a new top variant. The E and VX (O) variants have been axed from the line up. Since 1998 Honda has sold over 6.50 lakh units of city sedan across the globe.

Price

The Honda City facelift starts at Rs. 8.49 lakh for the base petrol S trim and goes up to Rs. 13.56 lakh for the new top ranging diesel variant. Prices are of ex-showroom Delhi.

Engine Details

There are no mechanical changes made to the City facelift. The petrol variants are powered by a 1.5l i-VTEC engine that makes max output of 118bhp@6600rpm and 145Nm of torque@4600rpm, linked to a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters developing fuel efficiency of 17.4 kmpl and 18 Kmpl respectively.

The diesel variants continue to extract power from a 1.5l i-DTEC diesel mill that generates 99bhp power@3600rpm and 200Nm of torque@1750rpm. This engine comes with a 6-speed manual as standard and delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 25.6 Kmpl.

Space and Dimensions

This segment hasn’t been touched at all, new City measures 4440mm in length, 1695mm in width, 1495mm in height and sits on the wheelbase of 2600mm. Honda City is one the spacious cars in its segment.   

Exterior and Interior

The city facelift gets a completely redesigned new front grille flanked by new LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The front bumper is also all new and houses new fog lamp units with LED units. While sitting on new 16 inch diamond cut alloy wheels new City gets LED package which includes LED DRLs, LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, LED rear combi lights, LED license plate lamps. Besides it is also available with several other packages like utility, style and chrome.

2017 Honda City

The new city comes loaded with several perquisite features like 7 inch touchscreen DIGIPAD touchscreen infotainment system with voice command recognition, Mirrorlink app and reverse parking display. In addition, it has 3-power outlets, 8 speaker sound system with 1.5GB internal memory, 2 USB ports, LED interior lamps, rain sensing wiper, electric sunroof, headlamp auto off timer, automatic climate control with touch control, cruise control, 3D ring 3D instrument cluster, leather package for steering wheel, gear knob and door armrest.

Colors

The 2017 City is available in five color shades-Modern Steel Metallic (New), White Orchid Pearl, Carnelian Red Pearl, Alabaster Silver Metallic and Golden Brown Metallic.

Safety

The Japanese carmaker incorporated new City with dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD), and ISOFLIX as standard across all variants. The top spec variant is loaded with six airbags, engine immobilizer System with Anti-Theft Security Alarm, Day/Night inside Rear View Mirror, dual horn etc.
